Description:

Connor was found in a dilapidated mobile home park that was not a suitable habitat for anyone to live, weather they be human or animal.  One of the occupants of this mobile home park called us in reference to a sick pup he had.  When we got there the puppy died just as we got out of the truck to go and see her.  We looked around the place and sadly saw dogs everywhere that were sick, malnourished, filthy, flea & tick infested and all were in terrible condition.  The place was incredibly disgusting; there were garbage piles all over the place, shattered glass everywhere, and it certainly was not a safe place to live.

We came back for the next few days and tried to educate the "owners" of these sad, sick dogs. We explained everything from the importance of clean water to proper vet care. Each time we went there and saw how these poor dogs lived, there was one dog we couldn't even get close enough to take a picture of.  Poor guy couldn't take a step without stopping to scratch.  The last day we were there, we were on our way out and figured lets try one more time to gain trust with this fear paralyzing dog (Connor) who wouldn't even look at us or let us near him.  He was the only one left there that we didn't get to check out and we needed to see if there was anything we could do to help him.  While he was surrounded by other dogs, sniffing the ground, we caught him off guard by scratching his back when he wasn't looking.  At that magical moment, in a split second, Connor turned around and looked at us with such an endearing, loving look in his eyes that just screamed "thank you".  It's as if this poor guy never in his life received any ounce of kindness or affection.

We were able to finally get close to him and check him out.  On the right side of his face and and ear there was a badly infected abscess that if left untreated any longer could have spread infection throughout his entire body.  We knew this dog could die if left there so we thought of a foster family that would be perfect for Connor.  We knew they would give him the loving care he needed and help build upon the trust that he finally began to exhibit.  Ever since that first magical touch, it seemed Connor never lost his gratitude.  It took a little while for his face and ears to heal.  He still has some scars left but that just shows his incredible strength and resilience from the hellish life he came from.  His skin and fur was so bad that Connor couldn't sleep because every five minutes he would need to scratch.  His missing hair patches from fleas and scratching grew back in, and he now sleeps like a baby through the night.  Connor had to go through a round of antibiotics, medicated baths, and pain meds, as well as heart worm and flea treatments. But what he gives back doesn't compare in the least to any costs spent to improve his quality of life.

Connor is an extremely gentle soul who gets along with people, dogs and cats.  He is currently learning some basic commands and is very receptive to teaching.  He is house trained but will probably need a refresher course in adapting to his new environment.  He walks well on a leash, plays well with anyone or anything, and is one of the happiest, most well adapting, loving dogs you'll find.  Once actually brought into a home, it's like he knew exactly what and what not to do.  Connor's foster parents are not in a place to adopt but only want him to have the absolute best.  They expressed the love they have for him and how much they will miss him when he leaves.   They know how much love Connor has to share and wants him to find the perfect family to share it with.

Connor is fully vaccinated and he is neutered.  Despite his former surroundings, Connor tested negative for heart worms on 11/23/15 and thankfully was found to be in healthy condition all around.  Connor would do well in any primarily indoor environment and adapt rapidly to your lifestyle.  If you have a lot of room in your heart and home to give this exceptionally wonderful boy all the love and care he deserves, please submit an application to www.socorescue.com.
