Brandon was found as a stray, with another dog in a crate outside of Ambassador Animal Hospital one morning a few weeks ago. The other dog was an elderly senior and due to health issues and quality of life was humanely euthanized. Brandon however was kept there and requested to be taken to the shelter or a rescue. The staff there absolutely fell in love with him and did not want to see him go. I agreed to take him to the shelter, but upon the moment I met him, I fell in love with him and couldn't bear the thought of him in the shelter. I had the vet give him all his vaccinations and HW test him, which came back negative, and took him home for the evening. The vet listed him as an unaltered male boxer mix and approximately 2 yrs old.
TEMPERAMENT:
In the time I spent with Brandon, this is what I observed about him: He is very gentle and calm. He will remain a statue for as long as you are petting him. Upon release into the backyard he did not go crazy running around, but just wandered sniffing and marking. He is leash trained and does not pull. He is housebroken and crate trained. He will whine softly for a minute when you first put him in, but will lay down and remain quiet afterwards. He does not chew, have a large appetite, or show any signs of food aggression/resource guarding. He does not jump up on people or furniture. He LOVES kids. He does not show any signs of a high prey drive either. He did not show any interest in toys. He rides well in the car, but likes to be up front. The vet stated that he never showed any signs of aggression while there towards people or dogs (as in walking by kennels)While at my home, Brandon did not shw any signs of aggression, but then, I did keep him separated from my personal dogs.
OTHER INFO:
I did take him to the shelter on Thurs. 4/21 (animal ID# 12928379) and put my name to him. I had him listed as a Mountain Cur mix. Everyone said pitbull, but I know how they are the most mis-identified breed out there and after some internet research it would appear that he is either a plott hound, tennesse treeing brindle, or mix of the like. Honestly, the ears give it away. I am trying to find him a rescue or a foster. I've attached pictures. If you can help in any way Brandon and I would be extremely grateful.
