Description:
This odd looking little fellow is Scrappy, a once unwanted, unloved outcast resident of the streets of the Soperton, Ga. area. Scrappy would venture back and forth, between a number of houses, looking for a hand out of food and water, other dogs to play with and somewhere to sleep. Most of the time, Scrappy would get chased away by the people he encountered, mostly because he looks so strange. He'd usually end up sleeping in the woods, with nowhere to really call his own. Still, he was always happy to give his friendship to whoever would accept it.

The bigger dogs at the home would basically pick on him, running him off the property. Still, Scrappy would keep coming up, hoping that maybe the next time, he'd be accepted by either the other dogs or the humans that lived there. But, eventually, Scrappy would give up, going to the next house to see if "today would be the day" at that house.

Then, on his lucky day, a human called him over! He was picked up, held tightly and given some love. That human just so happened to be the director of an animal rescue, and wanted to take Scrappy to a safe, warm place and help him find a home. Scrappy was so very happy! He's been at Southern Comfort Animal Rescue ever since.

Scrappy is about 2 years old. There's really no telling what breed or mix he is, one can only guess, but a vet once said Scrappy was possibly a Poodle/Terrier mix...with really bad hair! He's small, weighing only about 15 lbs., still learning all the proper things to do while inside a home, such as house and crate training, but he's starting to get the hang of it all. One has to remember that Scrappy was a street dog for most of his life, with no training at all.

Scrappy, when held, will lay his head on your shoulder, showing you how much he appreciates your kindness towards him. He is very energetic, but will relax when he gets to sit in your lap. He does get along very well with other dogs, and, despite the treatment he was accustomed to, gets along great with humans. While he isn't the "perfect" dog, he may well be the perfect dog for you!

Scrappy is up to date with all his vaccines, been a monthly heart worm preventative since coming into our rescue and will be neutered before adoption.
