Description:
You may think Sara is a funny looking little dog with some crazy hair, but look into her past and you'll realize what a beautiful, determined little girl she is! At about 12 lbs, Sara is a small terrier mix, probably a Norfolk or Cairn Terrier mix. But when we first met her, we could barely tell she was a dog! (see the second photo!) She was a pitiful little thing, cowering in the corner of an animal control with just hours before she would be put to sleep. She was covered in motor oil and what hair she had was clumped in scabs that covered her body. She shyly crawled toward us, but it was obviously she didn't expect anyone to actually touch her, much less hold and love her.

That's why we pulled her out and started a long but rewarding transformation of this adorable dog! She had had a yeast infection which we treated over several months. We jokingly called her "Crusty" as first, but as soft new fur began to grow in, we knew she was a tender, sweet dog that deserved a fitting name. Sara, meaning "princess" seemed like the perfect name. Though she has a small patch of hair still growing back on her nose, we think Sara is ready for her debut! She has almost human eyes, golden amber that sparkle when she looks at you. Her coat is almost pewter color with soft brown highlights. It sheds very little, if at all, which is good for allergy sufferers! But what stands about this special girl is what a baby she is! She so appreciates being held, is well-mannered, obedient and polite. This is a very cheerful, loving little girl who enjoys anyone (other pets and humans) who have the same personality! We estimate Sara is young (est. DOB June 2009) and she is current on vaccines, worming, is on heartworm preventatives and is crate, paper and house trained. She will be spayed for adoption.
