FOR MORE INFO CONCERNING THIS DOG, PLEASE CONTACT LAURIE WYATT AT: scar4macon@gmail.com
Ruby is a mini doxie who has so much personality! She loves to roll in the grass and ride in a car. She was rescued from animal control in Covington and we learned immediatly she had been a spoiled dog. She knew what a harness and leash was for (she was leaving before we were) as well as knowing to search for fries in the floor of the car. On the way home she rode looking out the window watching the world pass by. She does have to be beside someone all the time, in your lap is even better, and has no problem if you want to carry her around all the time. She does worry about being left anywhere by her foster momma but doesn't cause any problems from it (unless the guilt trip she causes counts). She still has vetting to be completed and will be available for adoption to the right person. She has been through a lot in her little life and deserves to be an only dog who gets to ride and sleep on a pillow of her own. At one time she had to have been a much loved dog but she has also had babies and still has the scars from something. The vet thinks she had been bitten severly and the hair in those spots may never grow back. She will use the dog door but doesn't like to even though she don't mind going out in the rain. Ruby was rescued at the same time as Buttercup. She has had a different life than Buttercup! Where Buttercup is timid, Ruby is the boldest little dog. She knows all about riding in a car as well as what a drive thru window has. She demands attention and will do her best to get high enough for you to see her. When you do notice her, perched as high up as she can get, she will lift one paw asking you to give her what she wants. She has some patches on her side our vet speculated they were from being attacked by another animal. This explains why she snaps at any animal that comes near her but we're working on it. She only warns them and is no longer trying to bite. The patches are missing hair that will never grow back but she don't mind, she has dresses! Ruby has been through some good and bad times in her life and has such an attitude about it. She loves her foster mommy and would have to live with someone who always has somebody there with her.
UPDATE! She has been spayed and had all her vet work completed as well as a bit more under the vet's recommendations. She is heartworm negative as well as any other worm free too! She had to have her teeth cleaned and polished so she can show them to the others if she gets miffed. The downside to all this vet work is that her adoption fee will be more.
08/28/2010 - She is becoming a lot more secure in her foster home and demands to go for a ride whenever anyone leaves. She recently went on a home visit with her foster mommy and managed to throughly check out the new home for us (as well as the backyard, dog beds, back porch and new adoptors ability to scratch heads). She still has some separation and big dog anxieties but has worked out her own spot and the others don't bother her. She sleeps without worrying about them anymore.
