Description:
***Archie is with a loving foster in Flemington, NJ. An application for his adoption can be submitted at socorescue.com (no need to register or login). Questions about Archie and/or our adoption policy should be sent to socorescue8@gmail.com; please do not call the rescue's number. Archie came to our rescue at the request of a concerned citizen who said she knew his former owner. This woman claimed that the owner was both physically and verbally abusive towards Archie, even claimed the man tried to run over Archie. While we were not able to verify that information, we did see that Archie had suffered some type of eye injury that left him blind in his right eye and required the removal of that eye. (His stitches are evident in his pictures and should be removed prior to his adoption.) Other than also being very thin, Archie looked to be in good condition. After the woman convinced the former owner to give Archie to her, she then surrendered him to our rescue. Despite the alleged claims of abuse committed towards him, Archie has been very friendly, playful and outgoing towards everyone he's met. He also loves playing with other dogs and even did very well when he was cat tested at the vet's office. He's also very smart, picking up rather quickly on his leash, house and crate training. Archie will do great in any home situation but will benefit from a home that offers him plenty of space to run and play. In addition to his eye removal surgery, Archie has also been neutered, received an update on his annual vaccinations, de-wormings and monthly flea/tick and heartworm preventatives. While he has done very well on his training here, his adopter should be prepared to continue with those efforts.
