Whoever left a pack of five very small longhaired Chihuahuas on a desolate road in Wheeler Co., GA. did so without any concern for their survival. Lining both sides of the 2 mile dirt road was dense woods, charred "clear-burnt" open land and a swampy area, but not one single home. If it hadn't been for a compassionate woman who just happened to travel the road, it's likely that no one would have ever known that these tiny female adult dogs were even there. And with the howling of coyotes in the near distance, their survival seemed very slim. But after a call was placed to SoCo Rescue, Scott Bennett and some of the SoCo team battled rain, mud and the threat of snakes to made it their quest to trap and save all five. Ironically, one of the five eventually ran through the woods and right to the home of the woman who first noticed them, making herself right at home. Another one, the oldest of the five, quickly captured the heart of a SoCo team member and has found a home with her. The three remaining little girls, Bindi, Biddie and Baylee, all made their way to SoCo Rescue for some much needed rehabilitation, medical care and lots of TLC. And it didn't take long for those three to shed their fear of people and become very trusting and affectionate towards Scott and his staff.

While she was terrified at first, Bindi did not attempt to bite him. Instead, she simply nuzzled up to him and seemed to be grateful for the help she'd and her fellow companions had just received. After a few days, she became even more accepting of her new SoCo friends, enjoying her lap time with Scott and the staff.

Bindi has now been spayed, received an update on all of her anual vaccinations and de-wormings as well as being started on her monthly flea/tick and heartworm preventatives. She also tested negative for worms, parasites and even heartworms. Bindi may need additional work with her house training, but has become familiar with sleeping in a crate. She is still a little uncertain about some things, so a home without small children and/or a lot of commotion would be best. She doesn't seem to have any fear of other dogs or cats and should do very well sharing a home with them.
