Description:

Shep is a Carolina dog, which is a descendant of the Dingo dog. The Carolina Dog is often referred to as "Old Yeller" because of its yellow color. (You can read more about this rare breed by visiting DogChannel.com and searching for Carolina Dog under breed search.) Shep is a very friendly fellow.

Shep was dumped on the side of the road, right in front of our rescues President as she was on her way to work. When Terry returned home that night, Shep was still sitting in the same spot where he had been dropped at, waiting for his owners to come back. It took a little coaxing, but we finally got Shep to jump right into our car.

Since coming here, he has been on a monthly heart worm preventative, has had his vaccines and wormer. He's yet to be neutered, but assistance with the cost of neutering may be available for the adopter.

Shep has gotten along good with the other dogs in our rescue, particularly one spayed female (Freckles). Shep shows no signs of aggression, although he does a little nip when licking. The nip is not a biting action, nor does he even touch any skin when doing so. This action is common among dogs that have been used for herding livestock.

Shep has been great around kids also. He has been housed as an outside dog since coming to our rescue. For more information on Shep, or to obtain an application, please contact Scott at socorescue@yahoo.com, or call 912-373-5533..
