If approved to adopt Luna, a SoCo team member will contact you ASAP.*** A local family has the best of intentions when they set out to save a dog and also provide their elderly mom with a companion. They just didn't realize that Luna, a 1 1/2 year old Bloodhound, would be so strong and active, which was way too much for their mom to handle. Luna had been with a bounty hunter who, for some reason, had regulated her to living in a small crate, greatly restricting her space and limiting her ability to move around much. The bounty hunter also failed to provide any training or socialization for Luna. Upon meeting Luna, we found her to be a very friendly and affectionate girl, but, again, she is very strong. She shows absolutely no aggressive behavior and simply loves belly rubs. As with most bloodhounds, she's typically nose-to-the-ground and wants to just "GO!"when walking on a leash, pulling whoever is on the other end of the leash with her. But Luna is very smart and, with a little time and training, should improve greatly. If you're familiar with the Bloodhound breed and can provide Luna with proper training, you will gain a truly wonderful companion. Luna has been spayed, fully vaccinated and kept on her monthly preventatives. She appears to be very healthy, has a clean, shinny coat of fur and is an exceptionally beautiful girl. Her new home should allow plenty of room for Luna to run and play. Luna has interacted very well with other dogs. Her current home includes chickens, which she'll play with, carrying them around by picking them up by their feathers, but has not yet caused any harm to them. She is also great with people of all ages. Applications for the adoption of Luna should be submitted at socorescue.com While not opposed to adopting her to those who would use her for hunting, we will not allow for her to be regulated to a kennel, she must also be kept as part of the family. Luna has displayed great house training ability at her current home but may need a refresher course once in a new home.
