Description:
**Adoption Pending ** Deuce will do best in a quiet home with adults. He does not show any aggression but is timid and fearful with new people and situations. He is good with our cat and at the rescue he was in a kennel with a gentle female so may do well with another dog. Meet and greet required. The ideal home for Deuce would have to be very calm and without stress and/or small children who may scare him with undue noises and excitement. He would be ideal for a laid-back person/couple looking for a calm and easy to manage dog. He is on the path to learning trust and affection. He will thrive in a home willing to offer patience and love. While at his former home, Deuce was confined to living in a 10'X10' kennel and somewhat secluded away from the other dogs, most of which were either living on chains or allowed to roam the property freely. Deuce didn't receive the proper socialization that he needed and developed a very timid personality, growing up to be very hesitant of people. He has, however, always been very dog friendly, taking a submissive role towards them, and has never shown any aggression towards people or even cats. Deuce came to SoCo in January of 2019 and has made great strides in becoming more trusting of people, even displaying a desire to be petted and loved on. Deuce will most likely always be a little timid but since in foster, June 2020, he's already roaming the house freely and going on walks in the woods, even off leash. He's not the dog to take to the dog park but loves leisurely walks in the woods and will follow every step. He has no interest in balls but if you give him a bed, he'll keep you company all day long. Deuce has been fully vetted, kept on his monthly preventatives and was recently treated for heartworms. He does occasionally have some clear drainage in one eye, likely a genetic condition, and does not seem to bother him or require treatment. If you can offer Deuce a home with that extra bit of love and understanding that he needs, please submit an application at socorescue.com
