Nellie originally came to our rescue after being found as a stray and taken in by a Glenwood woman. She had two puppies with her at that time, one disappeared while they were still with the woman, the other SoCo Rescue took in and has since been adopted. Nellie's plight has been one of ups and downs with her having to overcome many obstacles in order to be ready for adoption. 

Believe it or not, this robust girl was once so thin that we could see every bone in her body. It took quite a while to get her back to a healthy weight but then we learned that she was heartworm positive. She went into foster care while she underwent her heartworm treatments (she is now negative!) and receiving all of her other vet care at the same time. 

Nellie is very sweet, affectionate and loves her interaction with people. She gets along great with other calmer dogs, not being particularly fond of hyper dogs. She's never shown any aggressive behavior but will growl at another dog if they become irritating to her.

Nellie has been fully vetted and kept on her monthly preventatives since being with SoCo. She may need some house training but tends to not defecate inside her kennel at our rescue. We believe once in a home and after receiving proper exercise, Nellie will return to a healthy weight.
