**Durrell will be available for adoption at Rosedale Mills, Pennington, NJ, over the July 28-30 weekend**

Durrell came to SoCo after being found as a stray. His right rear paw was swollen to twice it's normal size with a nasty looking gash on the top of the paw and he seemed to be in a lot of pain. The couple that found him was given just a day to find some place to take him as their landlord wouldn't allow them to keep him. Our only option at the time was to have the couple take Durrell directly to our vet's office, which was over 2 hours from the couple's home. Without hesitation, the couple gladly made the trip as they really wanted to try and help this big, lovable fellow. For their efforts, we named Durrell after the man who drove him to the vet's office.

Our vet determined that one of Durrell's toes had been broken and that there wasn't much that could be done other than let the toe heal on it's own. Durrell was placed in a foster home and over the next few weeks, his toe started to heal. While not yet at 100%, Durrell walks, runs and plays with no problem. While at our vet's office, Durrell tested negative for heart worms and we also had him neutered. All of his vaccinations were also renewed.

Durrell is quite the friendly fellow. He always has a big smile on his face, loves to interact with other dogs and is very people friendly as well. His great personality makes him an ideal candidate as a family companion. Durrell may need some house training once in his new home. Durrell, when crated, tends to chew on the tip of his tail. Dog behaviorist say that this is a sign of a dog being bored or stressed, so it may be best not to crate Durrell.
